Künker sale 353, lot 4105

This specimen was lot 4105 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €75 (about US$104 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1840-1861. Taler 1841, A. Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William IV, 1840-61, thaler of 1841. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1841 only, the year the new king was crowned. Despite the large mintage, it is somewhat scarce. A mining thaler and a double thaler also appeared in 1841.

Recorded mintage: 2,279,754.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 22.15 g.
