Steve Album sale 54, lot 2545

This specimen was lot 2545 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $156. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PRUSSIA: Friedrich Wilhelm III, 1797-1840, AR thaler, 1838-A, lightly cleaned, starting to retone attractively, XF-AU." This type was struck 1828-40 in substantial quantities at Berlin (shown here) and Düsseldorf (mintmark "D") in the Rhine province. A mining thaler (Dav-764) also exists.

Recorded mintage: 324,000.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver, 34 mm diameter, lettered edge.
