Prussia 1781-A 1/2 stuber
This specimen was lot 3702 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €280 (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/2 Stüber 1781, A, Berlin. Prägung für die westlichen Landesteile. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön +. Exemplar der Slg. Kennepohl, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 93, Osnabrück 2004, Nr. 4408. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, half stuber of 1781, struck for the western provinces. Extremely rare, very fine or better.)"
This type was struck 1772 and 1781 at the Berlin mint for East Friesland, the Aurich mint having closed in 1768. It accompanied a quarter stuber, a one stuber and a double stuber.
