Prussia 1782 1/2 stuber
This specimen was lot 3703 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €600 (about US$835 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/2 Stüber 1782, ohne Münzzeichen, Berlin. Prägung für die westlichen Landesteile. RR Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Manfred Olding, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 10, Osnabrück 1988, Nr. 450. Dieses Stück ist eine Nachahmung der Halbstüber des Fürsten Georg Albrecht von Ostfriesland (1708-1734), die beim Volk besonders beliebt waren. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, half stuber of 1782, struck at Berlin without mintmark for the western provinces. Very rare, about extremely fine. This piece is an imitation of the half-stuber of Prince Georg Albrecht von Ostfriesland (1708-1734), which were particularly popular with the people.)"
The design of this type, lifted from the old KM 156, was not used on any other coin of the regime. It is rare and the last of its denomination.
