Prussia 1782-A friedrichs d’or Fr-2411
This specimen was lot 3537 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$2,022 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Friedrichs d'or 1782, A, Berlin. GOLD. Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, frederick d'or of 1782, Berlin mint. Very fine.)"
This type was struck in Berlin 1775-86 and superseded an earlier type with a younger bust of the king (KM 309). These coins saw hard use and are frequently found heavily worn.
