Künker sale 353, lot 3700

This specimen was lot 3700 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €40 (about US$56 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Stüber 1777, A, Berlin. Prägung für die westlichen Landesteile. Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Lauterbach, Auktion Frankfurter Münzhandlung 131, Frankfurt/Main 1988, Nr. 268. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, stuiver of 1777, Berlin mint, struck for the western provinces. About very fine.)"

This type was struck 1771-72, 1775-83 at the Berlin mint for East Friesland, the Aurich mint having closed in 1768. It accompanied a quarter stuber, a half stuber and a double stuber.
