Künker sale 353, lot 3569

This specimen was lot 3569 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €65 (about US$91 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/48 Taler 1766, A, Berlin. Prägung für die Mark Brandenburg. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Möller 26, Kassel 2000, Nr. 389. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/48 thaler of 1766, Berlin mint, struck for the mark of Brandenburg, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The SCWC reports that 397 million of this type were struck 1764-70 with another 396 million of the following type (KM 327) 1771-80. This coin should be common in all grades yet choice examples are scarce.

Recorded mintage: 68,709,470.

Specification: 0.97 g, 0.250 fine silver, this specimen is 1,42 g.
