Künker sale 294, lot 3533

This specimen was lot 3533 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €6,500 (about US$8,761 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/2 Friedrichs d'or 1766, B, Breslau. GOLD. Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit feinem Prägeglanz, min. justiert, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, half frederick d'or of 1766, Breslau mint. Very scarce in this condition. Very attractive example with fine luster, minor adjustment marks, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in Breslau, Silesia, in 1757, 1765-75. This type was also struck at Berlin (Fr-2408) 1765, 1769-74 and is priced higher than the Breslau mint issue.
