Prussia 1773-A 1/48 thaler
This specimen was lot 3570 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €65 (about US$91 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/48 Taler 1773, A, Berlin. Prägung für die Mark Brandenburg. Vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/48 thaler of 1773, Berlin mint, struck for the mark of Brandenburg. Extremely fine.)"
The SCWC reports that 396 million of this type were struck 1771-80 with another 397 million of the prior type (KM 295) struck 1764-70. This coin should be common in all grades yet choice examples are scarce.
