Künker sale 353, part of lot 3480

This specimen was part of lot 3480 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), which sold for €120 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/3 Reichstaler preuß. ...b) 1/3 Reichstaler preuß. 1773 A, Berlin. Berliner Typ. Erworben am 31.1.1968. 2 Stück., Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one third thaler of 1773, Berlin mint. [One of] two pieces, very fine.)"

This type was struck 1764-74 at Berlin, Breslau, Konigsberg and Magdeburg, this is a common date. One third thaler was half a gulden.

Specification: 8.35 g, 0.666 fine silver, this specimen is 8,21 g.
