Künker sale 353, lot 3183

This specimen was lot 3183 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,366 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich (III.) I. 1701-1713. 2/3 Taler 1703, HFH, Magdeburg. Mit durchgehender Vorderseitenumschrift und gedrungene breitere Büste. Münzmeister Heinrich Friedrich Halter. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, scharf ausgeprägt, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1701-13, two-thirds thaler of 1703, Magdeburg mint, with continuous obverse legend and broad bust. Rare, especially in this quality, choice example, handsome toning, sharply struck, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This draped bust type was struck at Magdeburg 1701-03. An armored bust type (KM 43) was also struck in 1703. Both are scarce.
