Prussia 1702-CS thaler Dav-2555
This specimen was lot 2060 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 3,500 CHF (about US$4,177 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Brandenburg / Prussia, Taler 1702. Berlin Mit der Münzmeistersignatur ° C ° - ° S ° (Christoph Stricker, Münzmeister in Berlin 1701-1713). Mit Randschrift. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, thaler of 1702, Berlin mint, with mintmaster's initials C-S for Christoph Stricker, with edge lettering. Rare in this condition, Extremely fine, Attractive patina.)"
This type was struck in 1702 only along with Dav-2555A, -2556, -2557. All are rare.
