Künker sale 335, lot 3723

This specimen was lot 3723 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €650 (about US$851 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich (III.) I. 1701-1713. 2/3 Taler 1702, HFH, Magdeburg. R Feine Patina, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1701-13, two-thirds thaler of 1702, Magdeburg mint. Scarce, fine patina, about extremely fine.)"

Friedrich I was the first king of Prussia, being promoted in 1701 from elector of Brandenburg. This rare type was struck 1701-09.
