Künker sale 353, lot 3170

This specimen was lot 3170 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €460 (about US$640 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich (III.) I. 1701-1713. 2/3 Taler 1704, CS, Berlin. Mit BORVSSIAE · EL · BR · am Ende der Vorderseitenumschrift und breitere Büste. Münzmeister Christoph Stricker. Seltener Jahrgang. Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Emporium 71, Hamburg 2014, Nr. 1296. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1701-13, two-thirds thaler of 1704, Berlin mint, with BORVSSIAE·EL·BR· at the end of the obverse legend and wider bust. Rare date, toned, minor planchet flaws, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Berlin 1701-09. Several other types of gulden appeared during this time.
