Sincona sale 51, lot 3164

This specimen was lot 3164 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Friedrich III. (I.), 1688-1713. 1/3 Taler 1705 CS, Berlin. Sehr selten. Schön-sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1688-1713, one-third thaler of 1705, Berlin mint. Very rare, Fine-very fine.)"

This type was struck 1701-07 and 1711 and is fairly expensive for a German minor. A one-third thaler was also struck at the Minden mint (KM 60).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 8.66 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 8.52 g.
