Künker sale 353, lot 3209

This specimen was lot 3209 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €380 (about US$529 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich (III.) I. 1701-1713. 6 Gute Pfennig 1705, BH, Minden. Mit kleinem Monogramm. Münzmeister Bastian Hille. RR Schön-sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Grönegreß Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 16, Osnabrück 1990, Nr. 452. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1701-13, six good pfennig of 1705, Minden mint, with small monogram. Very rare, fine to very fine.)"

This type was struck at Minden 1705-06. The "gute" in the denomination was supposed to indicate good silver, but this issue was just as debased as all the other low value denominations. The Minden mint served the western holdings of the Hohenzollerns (Cleve, Mark, Gelderland, Lingen and Ravensberg), which mint was moved to Cleve in a later reign.
