This specimen is the first coin issued by Philippines as part of the F.A.O. series and the second Philippine coin of that denomination. The Philippines, tho lush and fertile, suffers from overpopulation and a primitive landholding structure and poverty is common. This issue was struck at the Franklin mint. Twenty-five pesos is today (2010) about 52¢.
Recorded mintage: 22,000 plus 9,901 proofs.
Specification: 25 g, silver, 0.500 fine, .401 troy oz ASW, 38.3 mm diameter.
