A Marcos-era commemorative of the Philippines. "Ang Bagong Lipunan" means "The New Society," i.e., a society free from corruption that ironically, Marcos and his cronies were practicing. The currency, which was called pesos and centavos during the American colonial period, was reformed in 1967 and renamed "piso" and "sentimo" which were the Tagalog translations. Locals, however, continue to use the old names.
