The currency of the Philippines, which was called pesos and centavos during the American colonial period, was reformed in 1969 and renamed "piso" and "sentimo" which were the Tagalog translations. Locals, however, continue to use the old names. This type was struck 1975-78 then the bank logo was revised. The obverse bust is of poet Francisco Baltasar (1788-1862). He appeared on various issues of the ten centimos (KM 198, KM 207, KM 226, KM 240) until 1994.

Recorded mintage: 50,000,000 minted by the Franklin Mint and 10,000,000 minted in Werdohl, Germany plus 37,000 proofs (mintmark FM).
