This type was struck 1967-74 as part of the first series of Philippine made coinage. The prior type, KM 187, was made in the United States. The bust of Melchora Aquino was retired in 1992. The five sentimo coin now has a face value of US$.00096 (April 2019).
Recorded mintage: 90,025,000 + 10,000 proofs.
Specification: 2.5 g, brass, 18 mm diameter.
