Philippines 1971 10 centimos rev DSLR.jpg

This ten sentimos is from the circulation issue of 1967-74. The currency, which was called pesos and centavos during the American colonial period, was reformed in 1969 and renamed "piso" and "sentimo" which were the Tagalog translations. Locals, however, continue to use the old names. The obverse bust is of poet Francisco Baltasar (1788-1862). He appeared on various issues of the ten centimos (KM 207, KM 226, KM 240) until 1994. The denomination is still issued altho inflation has rendered it worthless.

Recorded mintage: 80,000,000.

Specification: copper-nickel-zinc, 18 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 198.
