Philippines 1970 piso gold

The SCWC records of this Philippines Marcos-era gold commemorative that 1000 pieces were minted and that it was designed by Frank Gasparro, erstwhile Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. The obverse depicts a bust of Ferdinand Marcos; the reverse a bust of Pope Paul VI, who came for a visit. This design was also used on a nickel (KM-202) and a silver piso (KM 202a).

Recorded mintage: 1,000.

Specification: Gold, 0.917 fine, 19.3 grams, .5691 troy oz gold weight.
