Philippines 1972 piso

The currency of the Philippines, which was called pesos and centavos during the American colonial period, was reformed in 1969 and renamed "piso" and "sentimo" which were the Tagalog translations. Locals, however, continue to use the old names. This type was struck in 1972 and 1974 in the United States and was demonetized in 1998.

Recorded mintage: 121,821,000 minted in Denver.

Specification: 14.45 g, nickel brass (70% Cu-18% Zn-12% Ni), 33 mm diameter, reeded edge.
