This specimen was lot 75357 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "PHILIPPINES. Mint Error -- Struck on 10 Sentimos Planchet -- 5 Sentimos, 1967. San Francisco Mint. NGC MS-64. An attractive example with sharp strike detail, lustrous with a bare hint of toning." This type was struck 1967-74 as part of the first series of Philippine made coinage. The prior type, KM 187, was made in the United States. The bust of Melchora Aquino was retired in 1992. The five sentimo coin was demonetized in 1998 but inflation had rendered it worthless long before.

Specification: 2.5 g, brass, 18 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 197.
