from the Stack's Bowers 2022 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75220

This specimen was lot 75220 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "PHILIPPINES. 50 Piso, 1976-FM. Franklin Mint. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo. Commemorating the Annual I.M.F. Meeting. Nearly flawless, this wonderful cameo commemorative is touching tribute to the IMF meeting in the medium they understand best, monetary units." The Franklin Mint nade a number of NCLT's for the Philippines before quitting coinage production in the mid 1980's. This one was likely passed out as a party favor to attendees of the meeting. It accompanied a gold 1500 piso.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 + 1,826 BU + proofs.

Specification: 27.4 g, 0.925 fine silver, 40 mm diameter.
