This specimen was lot 71277 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1903-Cn V. Culiacan Mint. NGC MS-63. B/L in "REPUBLICA". Only example graded by NGC. Rare variety. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." The Culiacan mint struck this ten centavos with this design 1898-1904. It is a redesign of the ten centavos piece struck 1869-97; only the eagle was changed. While the 1899-CN is rare, this date is common. The bronze one centavo and silver five and twenty centavos were similarly modified. The eight reales was dropped in favor of a silver peso with this eagle. The regime began closing the branch mints in 1893 and by 1903, only Culiacan and Zacatecas were left.

Recorded mintage: 256,000, including assayer Q.

Specification: 2.70 g, 0.903 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-404.
