This specimen was lot 31291 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 5 Pesos 1903 Cn-Q MS66* NGC, Culiacan mint. Gem Uncirculated with fully prooflike surfaces and an almost flawless specimen, as one could expect from the designation. Probably the finest Culiacan 5 Pesos in existence, and quite important as such. From The FoxLair Collection." This type was struck at Culiacan 1870-1903. The five pesos, tho scarce, is more available than the 2½, ten or twenty pesos in gold.
