Ponterio sale 169, lot 22324

This specimen was lot 22324 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $112. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1903-CnJQ. PCGS MS-63+ Unc Details--Cleaning, Secure Holder." The type was struck 1898-1905 and 1908-09; this date is common. Another assayer, FV, exists and is worth a substantial premium.

Recorded mintage: 1,514,000 (assayers JQ and FV).

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
