Mexico 1903-Cn FV peso

from the Stack's Bowers 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71295

This specimen was lot 71295 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $384. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1903-Cn FV. Culiacan Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A mostly argent specimen, this choice piece features a light degree of golden toning near the peripheries as well as resounding luster and brilliance." The type was struck 1898-1905 and 1908-09; this date is scarce. Another assayer, JS, exists and is common.

Recorded mintage: 1,514,000 (assayers JQ and FV).

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
