This specimen was lot 3400 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $9,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "1895 M 20 pesos. Culiacan mint. AU-55 (NGC). Eagle on cactus with snake, ground and wreath below, date below/radiant Liberty cap above scales of Justice and scroll of laws, mintmark, value around. Deep yellow gold. Lightly harilined with scattered light marks, but reflective in the fields. A very rare date, only 179 were struck. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."
