This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1869-1905 at the Mexico City mint. Mexico City is the commonest mint, followed by Guanajuato, Culiacan, Zacatecas (scarce), Hermosillo (rare), Alamos (rare) and Chihuahua (rare). Even the common dates have low mintages but the type was widely hoarded, making it reasonably available today. Numerous date varieties exist. This specimen was lot 1946 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $199.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. Peso, 1895-Mo B NGC MS62. Eagle. Reverse: Value within wreath. NGC graded MS-62."

Recorded mintage: 8,994 including assayer M.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, .047 troy oz AGW.
