This specimen was lot 73046 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,220. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1835-Ga FS. Guadalajara Mint. NGC VG Details--Reverse Scratched. Extremely rare date. Unknown to Buttrey and Hubbard. Only example graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The Guadalajara mint produced two reales nearly continuously 1825-62. Assayer FS served 1825-36. This date is mentioned but not priced in the SCWC. Other mints include Zacatecas, Mexico City, Alamos, Hermosillo, Potosi, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Durango, Guanajuato, Estado de Mexico, Real de Catorce and Guadalupe y Calvo. Only Oaxaca did not strike this type. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated.
