This specimen was lot 1309 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $322. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. 2 Escudos, 1835 Ga FS. Guadalajara. Hand inscribing law book with quill and Liberty Cap. Rv. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. Wheat gold surfaces show hairlines under magnification. A scarce date, this specimen shows some central softness on the reverse. Extremely Fine." Guadalajara, though a scarce mint for eight escudos, is the most common mint for two escudos.
