This specimen was lot 7822 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1835-Mo ML. Mexico City Mint. PCGS MS-65. The present gem example is the single finest graded by PCGS with a bold strike showing all the eagles breast feathers. A wholesome and totally original gem 1/2 Real Cap and Rays." The half real was popular among the people for making small transactions but most of the Mexican mints regarded making them a nuisance in the way of striking eight reales. Only Mexico City, Guanajuato and Zacatecas took seriously government decrees to issue small change. This type was struck at Mexico City 1825-63 and most dates are common, including this one. Assayer ML is recorded for 1834-42.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-370.9.
