Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 73044

This specimen was lot 73044 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $366. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1833/2-Ga FS. Guadalajara Mint. NGC EF-45. Very scarce date. Finest of two examples graded by NGC. Other coin is VF--Details. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The Guadalajara mint produced two reales nearly continuously 1825-62. No regular date is listed for 1833, which the SCWC prices as common. Assayer FS served 1825-36. This type, legal tender in the pre Civil War United States for a quarter, is common except in uncirculated.
