Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 471

This specimen was lot 471 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £240 (about US$372 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic / Philippines, 8 reales, Guanajuato mint, 1833 MJ, with straight J and one stop after date, countermarked on cap with circular crowned Y.II countermark for Isabel II, very fine." For 1833, the SCWC lists assayers MJ (common) and JM (shown here, rare).
