The first specimen was lot 23264 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1833-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU Details--Rim Filing. A somewhat crudely struck piece with good remaining luster, silvery toning, and minor rim filing that has not impacted the edging devices." Assayer OM is listed for 1830-55. The Zacatecas eight reales from the thirties were usually crudely struck so nice specimens bring a premium.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
