This specimen was lot 320 in St. James's Auction 9 (London, June 2008), where it realized 75,000 GBP (about US$129,750). The catalog description noted: "BRITISH COINS from THE ROWLEY BUTTERS COLLECTION, Charles I, Oxford mint, Rawlins’ crown, mm. floriated cross on obverse only, 1644, crowned figure of king on horseback l., brandishing sword, riding over a view of the city, rev. floral scrolls above and below Declaration, value and three plumes above, date and OXON below, characteristic weakness at sides as is usual with coins struck in a rocker press, some double striking on obverse, good very fine - the first of such coins to be offered in many years, with a superb pedigree and of the highest rarity. ex British Museum duplicates. ex G. Hamilton-Smith III, Glendining, 23 May 1927, lot 286. ex A.Thellusson, Glendining, 19 October 1931, lot 236. ex Lt.-Col. T.G. Taylor, collection purchased by Spink, 1936. ex H.M. Lingford, Glendining, 24 October 1950, lot 177. ex J.G. Brooker, SCBI (33), 876. ex Rodney Smith, collection purchased by Spink, 1983. ex Perley Storer, Spink auction 111, 21 November 1995, lot 86. ex Noble Numismatics Pty. Ltd." This is the only genuine specimen listed on Coin Archives; apparently, none have been offered since as of October 2022. It is so rare that the electrotype copies made in the nineteenth century sell for several hundred dollars.
