This specimen was lot 74704 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Farthing (1/4 Penny), ND (1644). Oxford Mint; mm: Mullet. Charles I. PCGS AU-55. Variety with wedge of brass in the planchet. Exceptional for the issue with significant luster remaining in the fields. From the Sydney F. Martin Collection." This type was also struck with crescent, cross pattée and lis mintmarks. They were struck under contract 1636-43 but the Oxford issue was struck only in 1644.
