This specimen was part of lot 71357 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $1,098. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Sextet of 2 Francs (6 Pieces), Year 12 (1803/4) to 1811. Napoleon I. Grade Range: EXTREMELY FINE Details to ABOUT UNCIRCULATED Details. 1) Year 12-A (1803/4). Paris. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED. Polished. 2) 1807-A. Paris. African Head. VERY FINE. Cleaned. 3) 180_-A. Paris. VERY FINE. Polished, Damaged. Final digit skillfully erased. Ex: Farouk Collection. 4) 1811-I. Limoges. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED. Cleaned. 5) 1811-T. Nantes. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED. Cleaned. 6) 1811-W. Lille. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED. Cleaned, Spot Removed. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Richard Margolis Collection." This coin was struck at Limoges under the régime of Napoleon as emperor. The type was struck 1809-14 and is the most available of the Napoleonic two francs after the year 12. It was demonetized in 1869. The catalog[2] notes 69 dates for the type, many very rare.

Recorded mintage: 137,359[2] (137,497 per the SCWC), a slightly scarce date.

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier. This specimen 4.91 g.
