This specimen was lot 826 in Jean Elsen sale 104 (Brussels, March 2010). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Napoléon Ier (1804-1814), AR 5 francs, 1811 A, Paris. Très Beau" (France, Napoleon (1804-14), silver five francs, 1811-A, Paris mint, Very Fine)

This is the commonest issue of a type struck 1809-14 but better quality specimens are always in demand.

Recorded mintage: 31,041,384, by far the highest of any silver five francs.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier.
