This specimen was lot 1118 in Stack's Bowers sale of the L. E. Bruun Collection (Copenhagen, September 2024), where it sold for €36,000 (about US$39,895 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Lightly Lustrous and Most Beautiful 3 Krone, DENMARK. 3 Krone, 1695. Copenhagen Mint. Christian V. NGC MS-62. Mintmaster: Christian Wineke (CW). Engraver: Anton Meybusch. EXTREMELY RARE, with a search yielding no other examples of this date trading or being held in private collections. Given this, one might be tempted to take this coin no matter the condition, though fortunately that choice is not presented here, with this example being exemplary on technical preservation. Soft color has uncoiled itself across the surfaces, and handling is very limited. The strike is extremely sharp (despite being rotated prior to a second striking), with no complaints to be raised. For the collector looking for a coin that packs a double punch of beauty and scarcity, this piece certainly fulfills both requirements. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922). Ex: Carl F. Schubart Collection (Copenhagen - 8/1831) Lot # 1703."

This type was struck 1693-96, all with the heart mintmark. It was struck on single krone dies using a triple thick planchet.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 53.99 g, 0.833 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, this specimen 54.37 g.
