This specimen was lot 33536 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $4,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Denmark: Frederik IV 3 Krone (12 Mark) 1699 AU55 NGC. Struck upon the accession of Frederik IV to the Norwegian throne upon the death of Christian V, displaying the stoic busts of both kings. An especially handsome and rare piece, and despite light evidence of handling consistent with its assigned grade, endures with the majority of its eye appeal and historicity still intact. A prize for Norwegian collectors." This rare type was struck 1699 only altho this example realized only half the catalog value.
