Künker sale 406, lot 4685

This specimen was lot 4685 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,624 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DÄNEMARK, KÖNIGREICH, Christian V. 1670-1699. Krone 1696, Kopenhagen. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 64 (6389235-060). In dieser Erhaltung von großer Seltenheit. Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Denmark, Christian V, 1670-99, krone of 1696, Copenhagen mint. Graded NGC MS-64, extremley rare in this quality, cabinet example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type is noted for 1693-99 along with Dav-3648A and Dav-3648C. It is scarce. Many would not class this as a crown, being too light, but it has a Davenport number so we will include it.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 17.99 g, 0.833 fine silver, 35 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-428.1; Dav-3648; Sieg-51.1; H-99a.
