Künker Auction 439, lot 2029

This specimen was lot 2029 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$4,953 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DÄNEMARK, KÖNIGREICH Frederik IV., 1699-1730. Dukat o. J. (1699), Kopenhagen, auf seinen Regierungsantritt. Münzmeister Christian Wineke. Stempelschneider Anton Meybusch. GOLD. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Exemplar der Sammlung Münzen und Medaillen aus adeligem Privatbesitz. (kingdom of Denmark, Frederick IV, 1699-1730, undated ducat, circa 1699, Copenhagen mint, on his coronation. Very rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This rare double-headed coin features the bust of the new king Frederik IV along with his predecessor Christian V. A triple krone (Dav-A3649) and a double ducat (Fr-209) used similar designs.
