This specimen was lot 33438 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $3,240. The lot description[1] noted, "Cuba. Republic gold Proof "Peral Submarine" 100 Pesos (1 oz) 2000 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Havana mint. Navigation Relics series. Celebrating the electric battery-powered Peral Submarine, the first of this type we have had the pleasure of offering. Displaying no notable faults, deservingly tied for the finest grade at NGC." Desperate for foreign exchange, Cuba has issued large numbers of NCLT's, many only vaguely related to Cuba. This design was also used on a five ounce silver coin.
