This specimen was lot 33437 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $3,840. The lot description[1] noted, "Cuba. Republic gold Proof "Juan Sebastian Elcano" 100 Pesos (1 oz) 2000 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Havana mint. Another high grade example from this Navigation Relics series, tied for NGC's top pop and quite impressive in hand with the detailing bestowed to the Elcano design." Desperate for foreign exchange, Cuba has issued large numbers of NCLT's, many only vaguely related to Cuba. This design was also used on a five ounce silver coin.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 38 mm diameter, 1.000 troy oz AGW.
