This specimen was lot 33435 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $3,720. The lot description[1] noted, "Cuba. Republic gold Proof "Nautical Rose of Juan de la Cosa" 100 Pesos (1 oz) 2000 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, Havana mint. One of this cataloger's favorite designs in the Navigation Relics series, radiating with precision and flash in hand. Tied for the highest grade available at NGC." Desperate for foreign exchange, Cuba has issued large numbers of NCLT's, many only vaguely related to Cuba. This design was also used on a five ounce silver coin.
