Colombia 1869-P 1/2 decimo
The first specimen was part of lot 44274 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (4) 1/2 Decimos, 1869-1875. Popayan Mint. G-04, VF-10, & F-15 (2) (PCGS). 4 pieces in lot. All KM-150.3, Restrepo type 258. Includes 1869 PCGS F-15 with nearly full details, gray toned. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." The second specimen was lot 44272 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1/2 Decimo, 1869. Popayan Mint. EF-40 (PCGS). Evenly worn with good peripheral detail and gray toning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Popayan 1868-70 and 1873-78 with similar issues coming from Bogota and Medellin. This liberty head design superseded the prior type (KM 144) which depicted two cornucopias and a pomegranate.
