Colombia 1870-P 1/2 decimo
The first specimen was part of lot 44274 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (4) 1/2 Decimos, 1869-1875. Popayan Mint. G-04, VF-10, & F-15 (2) (PCGS). 4 pieces in lot. All KM-150.3, Restrepo type 258. Includes 1869 PCGS F-15 with nearly full details, gray toned. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." The second specimen was part of lot 44287 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), which sold for $55. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Lot of (2) 1/2 Decimos, 1870 & 1871. Various Mints. AU Detail--Scratch & AU Detail--Harshly Cleaned (PCGS). 2 pieces in lot. 1870-Popayan, most details visible, scratch on reverse, and 1871-Bogota, KM-150.1, Restrepo-256.4, good sharp details. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Popayan 1868-70 and 1873-78 with similar issues coming from Bogota and Medellin. This liberty head design superseded the prior type (KM 144) which depicted two cornucopias and a pomegranate.
